I'm a big soccer fan and thought I would be a huge fan of this book, yet I did not find it engaging. The most interesting part of the book was the discussion of Jewish soccer teams as I was unaware of this history.
While I found the book informative, I was unable to find a theme that really tied it all together and it came across as disjointed. It seemed more like 10 long blog posts by someone who liked to travel and do research instead of an actual book.

This book would be decent for someone who knows nothing of european soccer and does no research on the validity on most of the conclusions drawn in this book. I really wouldn't bother.

I actually love this book. I am business nerd and a soccer fan. Put the two together and you get this gem of a book. The book also gives some insight into the lives of soccer hooligans.

I picked this up in a museum bookshop in New York, and it's very readable. OK, it's written for an American audience and the author is American, so by definition he doesn't really understand football ... Read full review
