This book was interesting enough, like most of Shirley Jackson's work, but I wish that there had been more closure, particularly with the whole racism issue. The death didn't seem to change anything that anyone thought about anyone else. I don't know. It was a weak ending. Read full review

Not to be Larry the Cable Guy about this, but I feel like most Americans would get a lot out of this book. Jackson hits the dysfunctionality of American family life so square on the head it hurts a little. Read full review
