"Pride and Prejudice" is a historical fiction novel written by Jane Austen and published originally in 1813. The author Jane Austen is from England and at that time there existed gender difference between males and females. Women were thought to only make good housewives and good homemakers, which required women to be poised, educated and at home entertainer, which meant she had to learn to play a musical instrument to entertain house visitors. This novel was the first of its kind to portrait the prejudice that existed then. The novel is about the Bennet family who had 5 adult daughters. The story focuses on the prejudice towards some of the daughters and the prejudice from the daughters to prospective husbands. The lesson that the novel carries is about the importance of teaching our future generation the acceptance and importance of diversity.

I rate this book five because it's romance jest keeps wanting you to read more. For example when they first met you know it's destiny for them to be together. Also the drama of him keeping the wedding off.

My all time favorite!!!! I have read this book at least 7 times and will continue to read. The chemistry between Darcy and Lizzy is electric! All of the characters are fully developed. In my opinion the best romance book ever written. I love all of Jane Austen's books, but Pride & Prejudice is hands down my favorite. A book as the title states, about pride and prejudice's in Victorian English society. When the business of a women was making a good match in marriage(and by good match: a proper gentleman with 4 or 5 thousand a year)this is a delightfull story of how class distinction can fade away in the face of pure and sometimes unexpected love!!!! Pride & Prejudice, a comfy chaise lounge and a steaming cup of tea!!!! Wonderfull way to spend an afternoon!!
