I bought this book this Spring as I was just starting my metal detecting hobby. It was a very good reference to have and I followed many of the tips contained inside. Went from collecting just ordinary changes the first couple weeks as I learned how to interpret the signals of my machine to bringing home gold/silver jewelry and hundred-year old coins the next. Although this book seems to be highly centered on New York City, I believe the information translates well to other urban cities. It worked for me in my case.
I wish this author would now write a book on how to survive the Winter months without detecting! Living in the northern half of the U.S. means I only have half a year to actually enjoy this hobby. The snow is on the ground now and I have to wait (Impatiently) for Spring.
If you are thinking of getting into the hobby of Metal Detecting/Treasure Hunting - then this is a great book to have.
