About the author (1998)

Evan Morris's column on words and language, The Word Detective, appears in newspapers in the United States, Mexico, and Japan (and is available on the World Wide Web at   He also writes a weekly column on slang for The New York Daily News. Mr. Morris has years of experience on both the Internet and on-line services and the phone bills to prove it. He is married, has one son, and lives in New York City.
