In company with other colonists from Greece and Italy, 300 Minorcan families (from island of Minorca in the Mediterranean) immigrated to Florida in 1768 in the condition of indentured servants. Their task was to build and labor on an indigo plantation at Mosquito Inlet, on Florida's east coast below St. Augustine"--Pref.
