Imagine CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG . . . with a romance, and you have the beginnings of this story of a young man struggling with the world outside his head--and the woman who gets inside it. Marcelo Sandoval hears music no one else can hear--part of the autism-like impairment no doctor has been able to identify--and he's always attended a special school where his differences have been protected. But the summer after his junior year, his father demands that Marcelo work in his law firm's mailroom in order to experience "the real world." There Marcelo meets Jasmine, his beautiful and surprising coworker, and Wendell, the son of another partner in the firm. (cont'd)

I loved this story about Marcelo Sandoval, a 17-year old who likes horses, lives in a tree house, studies God and has Asperger's Syndrome. He has led a sheltered life going to a special school. The summer before his senior year his father, a high-powered lawyer, wants him to work in the law firm to gain experience living in the "real world". It's quite an adjustment working with people who often treat him like an idiot, although he does make one good friend. At the law firm he encounters an unethical situation which threatens the law firm and his father. How will Marcelo respond to the situation? I couldn't wait to find out.
