I didn't see a selection for the audie award winning Frank Muller narration of this book, but that is the version you'd want. Wonderful read on paper and audio. Read full review

Wonderful, sad, intricate story regarding a group of friends and their lives in the south in the 60s and beyond. This is another book that ranks on my list of favorite books of all time, and it is far and away my favorite of all of Pat Conroy's books. Read full review

I read this book over 15 years ago and believe it may be the best book he has written. I have read thousands of books in my lifetime, and would easily rank this in the top 10. His imagery is engaging and transformative. He always tackles the most difficult of subjects and weaves them into a story that shows the true interconnectedness of the multi-generational experience.
Pat Conroy has a way of not judging his characters and being objective in his narrative, which allows the reader to make their own decisions through their own reflection. I would love for someone to do a film adaptation of this, so all the non-readers out there can enjoy his work here...hopefully someday someone will. Thank you, Pat.

Pat Conroy has to be the best yet at story telling, allowing the reader to visualize it and feel like they are eavesdropping on the conversations of others. Beach Music could very easily be my very favorite book of all time.
