I liked this book, although I found the author arrogant. Okay, I usually find authors of self-help books arrogant and/or biased. :) That's why it got three stars, like almost every other pregnancy or parenthood book. What I did like about this book was the idea that babies like to be close to us. Karp includes personal success stories (cocky?) and cultural stories (I really liked these!) to provide evidence that swaddling and cuddling and bouncing babies are effective soothing tools. This appeals to my sense of parenting, so I liked it.

I think the other reviews saying it's redundant/paternalistic are accurate (Tommy says that about all child and birth-related books I've brought home from the library, btw). But I also think you have ... Read full review

Awesome advice and it works, but watch the 30 min. DVD to skip all the fluff in the book, or just skim through and it will save you some time. Read full review

I would give this book 10 stars if I could. It also has a DVD that accompanies it, and I recommend that as well. I have studied and used Dr Karp's methods for nearly 4 years despite never having ... Read full review
