Editorial Review - Kirkus - Jane Doe

Katniss Everdeen is a survivor. She has to be; she's representing her District, number 12, in the 74th Hunger Games in the Capitol, the heart of Panem, a new land that rose from the ruins of a post-apocalyptic North America. To punish citizens for an early rebellion, the rulers require each district to provide one girl and one boy, 24 in all, to fight like gladiators in a futuristic arena. The ... Read full review

Review: The Hunger Games

Editorial Review - - Brian Farrey

In my review of THE SILENCED by James DeVita, I noted that we have a love of dystopian novels. I think it's because we, as humans, like to be right. We like to be able to make correlations between the conditions we see in the world and possible scenarios about how those conditions could achieve Worse Case Scenario status. It's frightening, really, that we should want to be right ... Read full review

Are you ready for the games to begin? The Hunger Games, is an amazing book by Suzanne Collins. Mockingjay and Catching Fire are some books that are lead on from The Hunger Games. But some other great books that are by Suzanne Collins are Years of the Jungle, FIRE PROOF, Gregor and the Code of Claw, and Gregor the Overlander. The book The Hunger Games was chosen because it shows how Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark use survival and sacrifice against each other. Also it is great because there is love in their between them as well. This is about a dystopian world that has been split into 12 districts. To set a type of “world peace” every year the capital sends off two tributes from each district to fight to the death. Only until there is one living tribute. Katniss, the main character volunteers as tribute because her little sister was chosen. The other tribute that was choose was Peeta, a boy who gave her bread when she needed food. Before they go off to fight Peeta says he’s been in love with Katniss as a game strategy so they can get more money /help from the people from the capital. The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins is showing that you should never give up.
Survival, sacrifice, and love is used so much throughout The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. Without survival Katniss and Peeta wouldn't have made victory. Without sacrifice Peeta couldn't have lived if Katniss didn't risk her life to get the medicine for Peeta. Without love Katniss and Peeta wouldn't have risked their own life to save each other. Also this book shows how you should never give up and always work hard for what you believe in. Anyone would like this book because it's a great story and has so many exciting events and it keeps you addicted to finishing the book. The Hunger Games. Let the games begin.
