About the author (2005)

Gary D'Amato has been a sports reporter at the "Milwaukee Journal Sentinel" for twelve years, covering a variety of sports, including Packers football and several Super Bowls. He's the author of two other books on the Packers: "The Packer Tapes" and "Mudbaths and Bloodbaths: The Inside Story of the Packers-Bears Rivalry" (Prairie Oak Press).

The National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association has named Cliff Christl Wisconsin Sportswriter of the Year five times, and he's placed in the top ten in the national Associated Press Sports Editors contest twice in the enterprise writing category. Born in Green Bay, the University of Wisconsin ? Oshkosh graduate spent 12 years covering the Green Bay Packers in the 1970s and 1980s. He is the co-author of two other books, Sleepers, Busts and Franchise Makers: The Story of the Pro Football Draft, and Bicycling Wisconsin.
