About the author (1954)

James Friskin (1886-1967) and Irwin Freundlich (1908-77) served on the faculty of the Juilliard School of Music for many years and were highly regarded concert performers. They co-wrote this book in 1954; in 1973, Dover reissued it˙unchanged, save for˙a new Introduction by Freundlich.
