About the author (1980)

Bernbaum is a mountaineer, scholar of comparative religion and mythology. A Senior Fellow at The Mountain Institute and Research Associate at the Unviersity of California, Berkeley, he sits on the Board of Directors of the American Himalayan Foundation.
