I was still at school in 1971 when I read the book "On the death of my son". The book was always in my mind during my time in the Bush War in Angola. After another border trip in 1979 I opted for a holiday in Durban to recap. One night in a bar in Durban I started talking to another gentleman and somehow we started talking about life after death and the book was mentioned. This gentleman turned out to be the Reverend who buried Mike. Needless to say he set up a visit to Jasper Swain in Pietermaritzburg and the next evening we drove to PM. Jasper received me as an old friend but also told me that Mike said I was coming. Jasper told me things what Mike told him about myself that only I knew about myself. I was stunned. Jasper gave me a copy of the book signed as "From the author Chad". Readers of the book might recall the name Chad as an affectionate way Mike addressed Jasper. I mentioned that the book should be translated into Afrikaans and Jasper was delighted. Sorry to say I never got around to do it.

I read the first edition of this book, twice to be exact. After losing my son after a long illness. I had a lot of questions and this story I could relate to. It is absolutely amazing. It is a must read for everyone. So much insight to what about what happens during and after the transition into life in spirit.
