Probably one of the top 5 programmer's books...

A must-read for any software developer.

Useful but over-hyped. Basically an enumeration of design flaws in mainstream object-oriented programming languages: given that the problems described in the book are indeed prototypical (there is no doubt that some of them are), your programming language should make it easy for you to solve them. If instead your programming language gets in the way, look in this book for a workaround.

It's decent but I feel I've encountered too many people who want to hammer every problem they ever try to solve into patterns. Read full review

Review: Design Patterns: Elements of Reusable Object-Oriented Software

By far the most readable and sure-footed OOP book. Every time I read it, i have a new eureka moment... Pretty hard to believe it was written in 1994. Feels more pertinent than anything you read concerning new technologies. Read full review
