This revision of the popular step-by-step approach to planning an integrated curriculum emphasizes using generalizations to organize content so that teachers can develop tools for managing the overwhelming amount of content they are required to teach. The text provides an excellent overview of the historical, philosophical, and political influences on curriculum development. Its unique, integrated approach introduces students to issues that cut across each subject area as well as the issues and trends related to specific disciplines. The new edition includes recent societal trends, updates on research-based findings regarding curriculum, and a greater emphasis on criticism of the traditional school currciulum.
