About the author (1981)

Besides being a singer, songwriter, guitarist and sitarist, George Harrison was also a record producer and music innovator. As he forged his own identity and drifted away from the Beatles, he became a well-respected songwriter, musical pioneer, and a catalyst for a generation's interest in Indian culture. He was born on February 25, 1943 and died on November 29, 2001. He will be best remembered for his contribution to the musical group "The Beatles." He was the lead guitar player for the group and after it was disbanded he became a solo artist in his own right. He helped organize a major charity concert with the 1971 Concert for Bangladesh, and is the only Beatle to have released an autobiography, releasing "I Me Mine" in 1980, although little was said about The Beatles.
