Excellent Book. I highly recommend this book for anyone that if from Seward County, NE and is trying to do research ontheir family origins. W.W.Cox covered a 20 year period and very throroughly I might add. It certainly helped me to uncover a lot of interesting and vital information that I needed to gather in doing my research. The Index in the back of the book will save a lot of time when looking for specific individuals, places, etc. If this book is available for purchase, I would highly recommend acquiring it in order to not only get essential facts but the author weaves interesting events together in ways that are very enjoyable especially if you are at all familiar with the Seward County Nebraska geography.
The author covers a lot of history and details including that of my Great Great Grandfather Elish L. Ellis who was the first person to record a parcel of land in Section 18, Township 1, Range 3 East. I have an original of this book dated 1888. This book was handed down from my Great Grandmother Lillie to her son (my grandfather) Herschel Dewey Zimmerman who handed it down to one of my first cousins, Victoria (Vicki) Lee Eastman Watson Shelburg. In 2006, Vicki handed this book down to me in order to assist me in collecting data for our family tree. Lillie our great grandmother was the youngest daughter of Elisha L. Ellis who married Artemesia Harrison from Clay Township, Harrison County, Missouri.
I have collected a lot of family history on the Ellis, Harrison, and Zimmerman families that settled in Precinct G, Seward, NE. Family
