One of those books that made a genre (cyber-punk I believe it was called) and transcends it. Interesting to see how applications like google earth came out of this book.

Wild futuristic view of society beyond governments with a Metaverse of interconnected computer power. Often paired with Neuromancer, but much more fun and easier to read. Re-read 4/07. Still great, but not as eye opening as Diamond Age.
