About the author (1983)

Ann Schlee was raised in America and Cairo. She attended Oxford. Schlee was a teacher in America and began publishing young adult fiction in the 1970s. The Vandal won the Guardian Children's Fiction Award (1980). Ask Me No Questions was a Boston Globe-Horn Book Honors Book for Fiction (1982). Her first adult novel, Rhine Journey, was short-listed for the Booker Prize (1981).
