BORN, Boston, 1819, April 16. H. C. 1838. Also a student at Yale Theo. Sem. 1840-1. Ord. deacon in Trinity Church, Boston, 1844, July 12, and presbyter, 1845, Oct. 9. Rector, St. Paul's Church, Newburyport, 1844-51; St. John's Church, Hartford, Conn., 1853-62, where he was also a lecturer in Trinity College and Professor of Church Polity in Berkeley Divinity School at Middletown; St. Mark's Church, Philadelphia, 1862-5, and Calvary Church, New York, 1865, until death. Trinity College conferred the honorary D. D. in 1860. Eminent as a scholar and divine among the Episcopal ministry, he was a member of the Bible Revision Committee, assisted in the preparation of one volume of Lange's Commentary, published a volume of sermons on the Ten Commandments, and many addresses and articles. MARRIED, 1855, June 16, Frances H. Lindsly, of Washington, who survives him, with one daughter. DIED in New York, 1881, Feb. 2, of cancer of liver and bowels, aged 61 years, 9 months and 16 days.
