About the author (1990)

Robert Jerome Gumnit, M.D. is an expert in epilepsy, having studied it for more than thirty years. He is the author of the authoritative books The Epilepsy Handbook: The Practical Management of Seizures (1983, 2nd ed. 1995), Living Well With Epilepsy (1990, 2nd ed. 1997), and Your Child and Epilepsy: A Guide to Living Well (1995). Dr. Gumnit has a world-renowned office-based practice in St. Louis Park, Minnesota. He also serves as a staff neurologist at the Gillette Children's Center at Regions Hospital in St. Paul and at the Minneapolis Center for Epilepsy (MINCEP) in Minneapolis. He teaches neurology and neurosurgery at the University of Minnesota, and is the President of the National Association of Epilepsy Centers. Gumnit graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in Philadelphia in 1957.
