Albert Bates is the author of 18 books on climate, history, and ecology, including Carbon Cascades (2019), The Paris Agreement (2015), and The Biochar Solution (2010). His book Climate in Crisis (1990) was among the first to call attention to global warming. He is the founder and director of the Global Village Institute for AppropriateTechnology (gvix.org).
