Descent Into Light
Written by someone suffering from an incurable physical disability from birth, this spiritual testimony tells how Dorothy Fielding has progressed, untutored, into the heights or depths, of contemplative prayer through a series of remarkable prayer pictures. She later learned to associate these pictures with the Ignatian tradition and, in the form of tapes, these are helping a widening circle of people.

This must be one of the most remarkable books of spiritual writing to appear in some time. Born into a London working-class family, Dorothy Fielding has had to contend since her birth with a crippling disability. Almost totally inactive and confined to her house, she developed, while unaware of the Christian mystical tradition, an intense prayer life. In this she experienced a series of remarkable visions or "prayer pictures," as she learned to call them, after being told that they fitted into the tradition of spirituality developed by St. Ignatius Loyola. I found the above review from another section of Amazon which sums up my beloved sister Dorothy, perfectly... Witty, outgoing in her mannerisms, combinning her spiritual side with her home life, three older sisters and one brother, Fluffy the cat and her constant companion, Pip, her budgie, who shared her every moment as a child, and my mum and dad. We all loved Dorothy dearly and although we could not help to relieve her pain, we shared upliftment and joy in our own ways. Dorothy walked and talked with the Lord through her visionary 20 minute experiences.
He told her and showed her happennings that took place at the beginning of time! It is a privilege
for me to talk about Dorothy and hopefully spread the word about 'Descent into Light'! I would like an honest opinion! Maybe you would kindly write a few words and add them to this review. Thank you, God Bless You, Mrs Joan Glynn
