Charles R. Schwab started investing in 1957 and in 1974 became a pioneer in the discount brokerage business, guided by the vision of empowering average Americans with information, investment tools, and easy, low-cost access to the stock market. Today, Charles Schwab & Co., Inc., is the nation's largest discount brokerage firm. "Money" magazine recently selected Charles Schwab as one of the seven people who most influences the economy.
