The pipe and ChristThis book is the result of a six-year dialogue between Sioux medicine men and Christian missionaries on the Rosebud Reservation in South Dakota. Fr. Stolzman presents a clear and learned comparison between Native American religion and Christianity...both parallel and different--each having an enduring, authentic place in salvation history. The author offers a word of caution. In that the things of which I speak are sacred and should not be bantered about in ordinary conversation. These visions are mine and anyone who speaks of them speaks not from what he knows but from hearsay. The stories may fill you with wonder, desire and questioning. That is good. Real answers and satisfaction, however, come only from one's own pursuit and experience of the Sacred. It is with a great deal of pride that we recommend that unique and enlightening study. |
