This is a foundational book in servces for individuals with intellectual disabilities. Do not let the language of the 1970's be off-putting. The concept of ideology, normalization, and other critical ideas drove the creation of community-based services. Dr. Wolfensberger's pioneering work deserves to be read by anyone in the field and anyone entering it. Do so realizing that you would most likely not be involved in community-based services were it not for this man's work, so forget about some of the currently politically incorrect terminology and absorb the ideas that prevade his work.
