I read tons of fanfic when I was in college, and while I've drifted away from it now I thought I'd finally give this a try and see if it was kind of silly fun in the fanfic vein. It's not. Way less ... Read full review

Holy crap! How bad is this book? One star is actually too generous. I can not find the words to adequately capture just how unbelievably bad this book is. And I can not understand how this became so ... Read full review

Read it to laugh at bad writing. Had a three hour panic attack instead. Don't read this if you have experienced sexual or physical assault, domestic violence, controlling partners, etc. Read full review

I resisted all the hype (don't know why, stubborn I guess) and never read the books until after the movie came out, then continued to resist after I heard there were negative reviews. Someone bought the books (whole series) and strongly encouraged I give them a try.... And I did.... And I LOVED IT!! (Yes, SHOUTY CAPITALS!!) I completely related to the lead character, thought her to be funny and her reactions exactly the way I would have reacted. Though uncomfortable with the pain elements of the subject matter, the rest of the sexuality was really hot and very well written. But most of all I loved the romance, and yes I did see this as a romance. I can't wait to read the second book, i'm only one book in. Haven't read a book that fast in years. And yes, once I finished I had to see the movie. As expected I completely disagree with the negative critics. I loved the movie, loved Dakota, thought she brought out all the innocence and humor of Anastasia and handled the sensuality of the sex scenes as well as I could have possibly expected. I'm critical of movies and performances but I liked this. I get it though. If you hadn't read the books, this movie isn't for you. Similar to Twilight, there is so much backstory in the writing that is challenging to bring to the film in 2 hours, it's not always the best movie to see without having read the books. That being said, I hope both Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan know that they did a great job bringing these characters to light. Not easy as a male actor to portray Christian without the audience hating him. For me, he did a great job. I never write reviews but I loved this book so much I had to voice my opinion. Thanks E.L. Laters, baby. :-)

no! This book is horrible! I thought it was going to be about depression or something like that, it's called fifty shades of gray, seriously. that's...no. bad. the worst part is I don't know how to get rid of it! people can read what ever they want, I don't care. I just want to get rid of this book!!!

This book was outstanding. There were obviously a lot of sex scenes in the book, but it was natural. Any kind of sex, is natural to me. I've never read a book such as this one. But I loved it. It was filled with love, passion, sex, honesty, etc.
