The author recounted the events with the seriousness of a historian, and the precision sought by a scientist. Going through the same events from a far-away location, I enjoyed reading this book by connecting the sequence of events that were unknown to me in 1989.
For example, we heard plenty of reports of different crashes and saw footage of negotiations in those days, and live reports. What Dr. Cheng adds with this book were rationales and connections behind these reports.
Thanks for writing this -- a far superior account of the confrontation than all others who claimed to be "leaders of the movement."
