Had it as our graphic design history book when I studied and I also now teach my students from it. Love it and find it very interesting - it literally takes you back in time and puts things into perspective by informing on the origin of a lot of graphic design related inventions we take for granted so quickly. The first chapter makes you aware of the importance of reading and writing and the invention thereof (visual communication) - the fundamental of design.
