Klavdij Sluban: Klavdij Sluban is an established photographer of Slovenian origin based in Paris. Sluban is known for his extended pieces of work and in particular for his work with young offenders in prison. This started in 1995, when he created a photography workshop for teenagers in the Juvenile Detention Centre south of Paris. Henri Cartier-Bresson attended several times a year throughout the project, as did photographers William Klein and Marc Riboud. In 2000, Klavdij created a photographic workshop in Slovenia, in the only national prison for teenagers. He also worked with young prisoners in the former Soviet-Union (Russia, Ukraine, Georgia, Moldova, Latvia), on similar photographic projects. Klavdij Sluban’s photographs have been exhibited widely including the Museum of Photography, Helsinki; Metropolitan Museum of Photography, Tokyo; Museum of Modern Art, Canton, China; Maison Européenne de la Photographie, Paris; and Centre Pompidou / Beaubourg, Paris. He has published several books and is included in the well-known Photo Poche series which features the world’s leading photographers. He was winner of the Leica Medal of Excellence in 2004 and the Prix Niépce in 2000.
