Patrick White: selected writings
In the University of Queensland Press 'Australian Authors' series. This collection presents a Patrick White who was passionately involved in the world around him and whose writing is full of wit, humour, sex and love. It reveals that in his fiction as well as his public statements, that he had a keen interest in the social and political events of his time and place. The collection opens with his first published story in 1937, 'The Twitching Colonel', and contains his 'Dancing with Both Feet on the Ground' published in 1988 some two years before his death. Editorial notes to each section provide a background to the sometimes unfamiliar pieces, many of which appear in book form for the first time. Includes a select bibliography. The author's other works include 'Patrick White', 'Barbara Baynton', and 'The Macmillan Anthology of Australian Literature' (with Ken Goodwin, 1990).
