This book is a deep dive into the world of film finance and everything that concerns it. It offers real feedback from the "behind the scenes" of the industry and includes personal notes and stories the author shares. She openly points out pitfalls she stepped into (and one should avoid). It's a must-have for anyone who wants to make money with a film.

This book deals with the industry as it is TODAY. It's much needed. I have been working in the entertainment industry for 7 years, mainly producing lower budgeted content. I took Jeanette Milio's finance class at UCLA this year. She recommended this book with the course. I am so glad I bought it because it literally became my "bible". Everything you need to know about making movies, very step to take -from script to screen-, is explained in there in much detail. I very much enjoyed the sections to do with optimizing one's profit, mitigating the financial exposure, and choosing the right project to get green-lit. The book is very well written, and it has a gentle and entertaining tone, which I truly enjoyed.

Having worked in film and television financing and production for the last 10 years, I must say that I really enjoyed reading Jeanette Milio's book. Not only does it confirm many of my business decisions. But, it also taught me a few things I didn't know. The book helps me make my work on the films I finance more efficient and effective. It also offers guidance to avoid mistakes. Protecting my co-financiers and myself from those who may not mean well, is certainly something I had to learn about. This book offers useful insight on that. And, it gave me some ideas on how to update my own financial structures to minimize risks and optimize returns. Most importantly - and the reason I bought the book: It provides me with a useful path through the maze of today's entertainment industry.

I took recently the author's Entertainment Finance class at UCLA. Fantastic class btw. This was our textbook. It is so much more than that. The book goes into much detail about how to go about structuring a solid financial plan, how to get distribution, what pitfalls to avoid, how to protect investors, and IP.s and so much more. Very well structured book, with a logical flow. It is actually fun to read because the author is not shy about sharing her own mistakes and some funny stories.
