This book is a deep dive into the world of film finance and everything that concerns it. It offers real feedback from the "behind the scenes" of the industry and includes personal notes and stories the author shares. She openly points out pitfalls she stepped into (and one should avoid). It's a must-have for anyone who wants to make money with a film.
This book deals with the industry as it is TODAY. It's much needed. I have been working in the entertainment industry for 7 years, mainly producing lower budgeted content. I took Jeanette Milio's finance class at UCLA this year. She recommended this book with the course. I am so glad I bought it because it literally became my "bible". Everything you need to know about making movies, very step to take -from script to screen-, is explained in there in much detail. I very much enjoyed the sections to do with optimizing one's profit, mitigating the financial exposure, and choosing the right project to get green-lit. The book is very well written, and it has a gentle and entertaining tone, which I truly enjoyed.
