The book does a great job in describing the challenges faced by the people living in the land of five rivers with a constant stream of marauders and plunders coming in from the west and how that kept changing the demographics, beliefs, social structures of the region over time. A very matter of fact narrative of the times without any bias towards any religion or ethnicity. A very enjoyable read
the book is an eye opener as what all of us think.it covers a lot of things.the best part about khushwant singh's writing is that i do not think being a sikh he was partial at all unlike other writers.
i was able to imagine what i was reading ,which made it very very intresting.his writing is simple is highly readable, innovative and bold.
