This book contains biographical profiles with such substantive errors they should be completely discarded.
I do not see in the preview version any MLA or source citations. However it is not necessary to validate a source when information is so patently in error.
One example: Page 134 regarding Mowrey. It states Michael Mowrey immigrated from Germany, served as a soldier in the Revolutionary war and married Nancy Rauch finally dying at the ripe age of 100.
Fact: Michael Mowrey was born in 1771 and did not serve in the Revolutionary War between the ages of 5-10. He died in 1855 at the age of 84 and is buried in a Pioneer cemetery in Wooster, Wayne County, Ohio. He had two wives, Eve Fickes and Marjorie Bair.
His father Andrew Mowrer emigrated from Germany and "supported" the Revolutionary War. Andrew's birth name was Andreas Maurer. Andrew/Andreas died in Pennsylvania in 1823.
Michael's son Michael born in 1805 in Ohio did marry a Nancy Rauch.
A publication that purports to be a factual and historical reference work should be at least moderately correct in its facts.
This book is useless and the exceptionally erred single biography casts doubt on the entire body of work.
I strongly object to placing information about families and people who are still alive on line in a searchable data base.
