About the author (1993)

Gwen Marston first coined the phrase "Liberated quiltmaking" in the mid-1990s. It has become her trademark style. Liberated Quiltmaking II (AQS, 2010) was a top-selling book. She lives on Beaver Island in Lake Michigan.

Joe Cunningham has made a living making quilts for 30 years. Author and co-author of numerous books on quilts, quilt history, and quiltmaking, he teaches nationally and curates special quilt exhibits. His alter ego, Joe the Quilter, stars in a one-man musical that explores how quiltmaking was a masculine domain not so very long ago.
