About the author (2002)

Donna Bennett has been teaching at the University of Toronto since 1984. She was an editor for Descant for sixteen years (until 1995) and is now a co-editor of the University of Toronto Quarterly. She is the co-editor, with Russell Brown, of An Anthology of Canadian Literature in English(1983, 1990) and most recently of a A New Anthology of Canadian Literature in English (2002). Her essays on Canadian writing, postcolonial theory, and related topics have appeared widely in various scholarly journals and collections. Russell Brown began his career at Lakehead University, where hetaught from 1969-77; he has been a member of the Department of English at the University of Toronto since 1977. He was an editor with Descant from 1978-83 and the Editorial Director of Poetry for McClelland and Stewart from 1983-1988. He is a co-editor of teh University of Toronto Quarterly. Hiscritical essays on various Canadian authors and topics have appeared in scholarly journals in Canada, the United States, and Europe.
