About the author (2005)

Bruce Balan was born in Long Beach, California, and graduated from San Francisco State University. He has worked as a videotape engineer, computer software designer, and writing instructor, among other jobs. Currently a full-time writer, he has published several picture books and the middle-grade mystery series "Cyber.kdz," and he serves as technology advisor to the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators. He and his wife, Dana, live in Los Altos, California.
Raul Colin is an acclaimed illustrator whose work has appeared on book jackets and in numerous magazines and newspapers. He has illustrated several picture books, receiving for them gold and silver medals from the Society of Illustrators and New York Times Best Illustrated Book of the Year honor. Though a native New Yorker, he has lived in Puerto Rico, where he studied commercial art, and in Florida, where he worked for ten years at an educational television center. He currently lives in New City, New York, with his wife and two children.

Scott Nash is an award-winning illustrator of the Flat Stanley series and Saturday Night at the Dinosaur Stomp by Carol Diggory Shields. His design firm, Nashbox Studios, has lent its expertise to such kid-centric brands as PBS, Nickelodeon, and Disney. He lives in Maine. You can visit him online at
