A book I read before job shadowing an SLP in order to become more familiar with the lingo of speech therapy. Written from a parent/caregiver perspective, it covers various speech & language disorders, therapeutic techniques, the experts involved in these particular diagnoses/treatments, navigating individual education plans, creating a communication-friendly environment and more. As a previous reviewer mentioned, it does not delve into one particular disorder in depth, but is for those who are not familiar with the types of disorders that can occur. If you are interested in a quick, thorough and well-written introduction to speech and language disorders that combines clinical research with personal input from a parent, this is it.
