## Theoretical PhysicsAmong the finest, most comprehensive treatments of theoretical physics ever written, this classic volume comprises a superb introduction to the main branches of the discipline and offers solid grounding for further research in a variety of fields. Students will find no better one-volume coverage of so many essential topics; moreover, since its first publication, the book has been substantially revised and updated with additional material on Bessel functions, spherical harmonics, superconductivity, elastomers, and other subjects. |

I want to share interesting fact about this book. I am now reading 1964 german edition of this book. I also use russian translation in case if I do not understand some subtle points. I noticed that Aufgaben (Problem) 15 in page 22 was replaced by completely different problem in russian translation. Took some time to understand the reason. I think the reason is that the problem in original german edition is about some money owners and some money transfers. Although it is a normal problem for western reader russian translators did not want to shock readers in then communist country by such capitalistic problem in a physics book. Therefore they replaced it by a normal problem. In case if you are interested with this new problem in russian edition I translate it for you:

Problem 15: Find the differential equation representing the law of mass conservation in compressed fluid. What is the form of this equation if the fluid is not compressible?

(Russian translation of G. Joos, Theoretical Physics)
