Successful material transportation can mean the success or failure of a mining operation. Conveying, a safe and environmentally sound way to transport materials, in increasingly replacing truck hanlage and other methods. It is a fact that mining operations and quarries are requiring larger systems with higher horsepower. Using a total-cost-of-ownership approach to design and contract systems that make use of recent innovations can save substantial amounts of money over the life of the system. This book, the fifth in the popular SME series, offers successful bulk material handling solutions and novel ways to improve conveyor performance. Leading experts share valuable information on conveyor operations, conveyor belt operating tensions for design, developments for improved reliability and efficiency, as well as case studies of conveyor installations.
