As a teacher of California History, I wanted students to get an idea of what adjudication was like under California's many flags. While the author doesn't mention anything about Native American adjudication, he does present a detailed account of the the organization and function of the courts system under the Spanish, Mexican, and finally the California flag. Very little information is available about the courts systems in Alta California under the previous flags, so I considered this to be quite a find!
