My name is Merri Walters. I'm twenty-seven years old. Two years ago, I suddenly went deaf. My teaching career ended and my fiancÚ walked out. I survived—and learned to lip-read. So here I am, two years later, starting my new life as a cold-case file clerk turned undercover agent for the police. My task: Infiltrate the mansion of a ruthless crime boss and read his deadly plans off his lips. Detective Steven Barlow, a tough cop who's convinced I'm on a suicide mission. And in a way, he's right—because if I'm caught, I'll be dead without ever hearing the bad guys coming

Interesting because the main character is deaf. Narrative, thoughts, action. This needs a sequel. Read full review

About the author (2011)

As a child, Paula Graves's books were Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew mysteries and Harlequin Romances. When she realized there were books that featured both romance and mystery, she knew she'd found her calling. Now Paula writes for the Intrigue series, where she gets to play both matchmaker and murderer and has a blast doing it.

In addition, Paula works a full-time day job at a Birmingham ad agency, where she's a copywriter and graphic designer, a background that comes in handy when it's time to redesign her website and create promotional materials for her books. She's also known among certain circles as the Cat Whisperer, but that's a whole other story.

Paula loves to hear from her readers and you can email her at paulagraves@charter.net or visit her website above.
