George Spear (b.ca. 1613) immigrated about 1642 from England to Boston, Massachusetts, and settled at Braintree (now Quincy), Massachusetts in 1644. In his old age he moved to New Dartmouth (now Pemaquid), Maine, where his third wife had property; this would have been after 1678, when his second wife died. Descendants and relatives lived in New England, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Minnesota, South Dakota, California and elsewhere.

This is a comprehensive genealogy of the title subject. It's not a book to really "read" but there is some very interesting reading in here nevertheless. George Spear, born in 1613, was (only) my 7th Great Grandfather, since in almost every case I am descended from the last born. There were some twists in my family tree, that I couldn't resolve through ancestry., but I was able to sort them out with the help of this book. On my family's line, the book went so far as my father's grandfather Herbert Spear.
