The Romance of AntarThe early Arabian "Romance of Antar" is the greatest, and even today the most popular of the hero stories of the ancient days of Arabia, the days before the coming of Mohammed. The story of Antar is better authenticated than that of the heroes of the ""Iliad", since the great poet and warrior Antarah ibn Shaddad is a historical figure, and many of his poems have survived.
