About the author (2012)

Barbara Hannay's first story was written for the Brownies' writer's badge about a city girl whose family moves to the outback. Now, with more than forty novels behind her, Barbara's fascination with rural life is still a theme in her writing. She and her husband have left the city to live on a misty hillside in the Atherton Tablelands where they keep pigs and chooks and an untidy garden. They also have views of hills dotted with cattle, which they pretend are their own. Barbara's books have garnered many awards, including the RITA® award in America and the Romantic Book of the Year award in Australia.
