This book absolutely disgusted me. I was sickeningly enthralled by the nature of the fast food industry. This book reminded me of Upton Sinclair's The Jungle, even though I have yet to read it. I cannot believe the state of our meat packing plants, and even more I cannot believe what companies like McDonalds and Burger King are willing to feed us, or what we are willing to unknowingly eat. I am of the opinion that even if we know what we are ingesting when we eat fast food, we'd still eat it. The stories told within this novel are quite sad ones, especially the one of the girl that has to work such long shifts just to help her family out. This book is a good read, and it might just change a few minds while turning a few stomachs.

Pretty good, but I, being only 12, find it hard to understand. Also, it can be pretty gross, but I guess that's the whole point of muckraking.....

Writing wise, this book is bogged down with a lot of economic and business statistics and information, and while I'm sure that's fascinating for some people, for me it was dry and difficult to trudge ... Read full review
