An outstanding look at the lives of the majority of everyday English folks. In many ways, this book (and others like it) are a part of the history of females, as it offers a glimpse into the lives of servants, wives and daughters.
The recipes are fun, though cooking in a modern range is a little tricker when converting. Many of the preserves are the same recipes my mother taught me.
