No, it aint about Nehru. Its about the current state of life, political and social, in India, how we got here and how we can get out of here. This book is an expertly written book with keen understanding of roots of Indian problems and dis-functionality of its institutions. Sanjeev Sabhlok organized the book very skillfully to present a wide range of ideas without sounding preachy or academic. The witty lines and sarcastic comments about the status of things make this book an entertaining read. As he rightly says in the beginning, its more of a political pamphlet rather than an academic commentary, and a very good one at that. The insights one gets into the real nature and scale of challenges India faces in 21st century with a majority of population stuck in medieval period ideas and notions are invaluable. My understanding of India became lot better and clearer after reading this book. I have so far recommended this book to atleast six people, and everyone is saying they are happy that they didnt miss this book.

This is one of the best written books ever on Indian political system and steps written to overhaul the underlying problems seem to be quite pragmatic. Hope that many would read and understand the root causes of our own created problems..
After reading this, i recommended to many friends but they did not show any interest. I BELIEVE ONCE any body read this book at least he would start understanding the ways public fund being misused and public being fooled each time by all political parties. THIS BOOK TEACHES TO QUESTION THE MYTH.

Why should one read this book can be summarized in following points:
1. Unlike other authors, who write on problems in India & its poverty, as a tool to gain cheap publicity & money, this book is
written with sincerity to SOLVE the problems India is facing.
2. The author of this book has the reputation of ACTUALLY serving India for over 15 years as administrative officer (IAS), and hence the credibility & authority to write about India.
3. Most important of all, this book doesn't talk of only problems, but the SOLUTIONS, which I guess no other can provide as clearly and as vividly as Sanjeev does.
Read this and find out the real reason for India's problems...and also the solutions...

BFN (Breaking free of Nehru: let's unleash India!) by Sanjeev Sabhlok is not just a Book, it is actually a hand-book, a complete step-by-step guide to reforming India and its governance. Starting with the evaluation of the past performance over sixty years of Indian governance; an in-depth and detailed analysis of why, where and what went wrong; and finally the Prescription for a complete reform and change over. The prescription is not a hope or a dream that just sounds good. The prescription that this book offers is not to be taken as a comment, a thesis or a research paper from an academic viewpoint. This is “TO-DO” list for India and the Indians. It is a “must-read” for everyone and anyone who would like to contribute and work towards a better India.

A must read by all Indians, Truly. Wonderful book which clearly points out the source of all our Indian Governance problems. I had so many questions about our inefficient Indian government system on every level in my mind. Now, i get the clear picture after reading the book.
I was always painfully aware of our Indian governing problems and corruption. You wrote it down clearly with clear examples and i couldn't take my eye's off the screen until i completed reading your whole e-book.
Initially, I disagreed with Sanjeev Sibhal on Charity, later he clarified by e-mail about the corruption/scandals involved in all the foreign aids that we get. Corruption in foreign aid money !!! It makes me wonder whether the corrupt have any bit of Humaness left in them.
Thanks and my Salutations for the Honest, Truth seekers.

'Breaking free from Nehru' by Sanjeev Sabhlok is like a fresh breath of air for those people living in India and across the world who have fire in the belly to contribute in reforming India just for the sole purpose of making India not one of the best but best place to live in the whole world.
The USP of the book lies in clarity of thoughts and solution('blue print')in solving multiple problems. This book not only discusses India's self created problems and issues (economic, governance etc) for the past 62 years but actually comes out with pragmatic solutions, conviction, clarity of thoughts and vision to solve them.

This is the only book I know which offers a 'complete solution' to India's developmental problems of today. It is invaluable in the practical examples and experiences it sites, drawn from Sanjeev's bureaucratic and political career. Firmly grounded in classical liberal principles and related schools in political philosophy, 'Breaking Free of Nehru' should be read by every one serious about India's development.
